Psychotherapy

**Uncovering the True Self** Short-term psychotherapy typically lasts up to six months. However, if you feel that you need additional sessions, we can discuss that possibility. I use an integrative approach, which combines different therapeutic modalities tailored to the specific topics you bring to our sessions. These modalities include psychodynamic, humanistic, transpersonal and cognitive behavioral therapy.

The short-term therapy is designed to help you concentrate on specific areas of your life. If, after this period, you feel the need for long-term therapy, I can provide you with contact information for additional support. We can accomplish a lot when we target a specific issue, so please don't underestimate the effectiveness of short-term therapy.

It’s common to enter therapy without knowing what to expect or whether it’s the right fit for you. Short-term therapy can be an excellent way to begin your journey. However, I am mindful of the time frame of six months, so an in-depth exploration of past traumas may not be fully addressed but only touched upon to help you understand your situation.

Sometimes, the reason you initially sought therapy may not turn out to be the primary issue. During our sessions, you might discover other unexpected challenges. Therapy can for example:

-
A process of transformation
-
An avenue for increasing self-awareness - A way to enhance self-esteem and self-worth
-
A means of identifying areas in need of further development, a tool for better emotion
-
Self-management - A method for observing negative thinking patterns and behaviours
-
An opportunity to explore how certain defence mechanisms, such as denial and projection, can adversely affect your relationships and your self-perception.
-
Managing difficult experiences such as those who consider themselves undergoing spiritual emergency/crises
-
Building self-resilience and coping strategies
-
Focusing on specific issues

What to Expect

This session consists of six months of one-on-one sessions, designed to help you focus on specific areas of your life. If, after this period, you feel the need for long-term therapy, I can provide contacts for continued support.

Entering therapy without knowing what to expect is completely normal. Short-term therapy can serve as an excellent introduction to the therapeutic process, offering insight and clarity even within a limited timeframe. Given the six-month structure, deep exploration of past traumas may be limited, though we may touch upon them to better understand your current challenges.

The Therapy Process

The initial reason you seek therapy may evolve as we explore underlying issues. Our sessions provide a space for self-discovery, and you may uncover unexpected challenges along the way. Therapy can be:

-
A process of transformation
-
A tool for increasing self-awareness
-
A way to enhance self-esteem and self-worth
-
A means of identifying areas that need further development
-
A method for improving emotional regulation
-
A way to recognise and shift negative thinking patterns and behaviours
-
An opportunity to explore how defence mechanisms (such as denial and projection) impact relationships and self-perception
